Hi all -
I'm new to this forum, I just thought I'd add a little bit about my recent experience playing Mini-Baccarat.
I've heard about the game for many years - but had never played it. When I was younger and used to live in PA - I'd go to Atlantic City and play BJ, I'd also walk around and see some of the other games in the casinos. Games like Red Dog, Pai Gow Poker, Baccarat, etc. seemed confusing and difficult to pick up.
Speed ahead to the present -Most of the time when I have gone to my local casino or to AC, I have been playing BJ and recently a game called Texas Hold'Em Bonus Poker.
I frequent a Seminole Indian Casino in Immokalee FL - they are part of the Hard Rock family - their are about 5-6 Indian Casinos in FL. I live about 55 miles away from the one in Immokalee.
This casino has slots, BJ, Let it Ride , 3 Card Poker, other table games, a Poker Room and a few Mini Baccarat tables. They don't have a hotel - just the gaming area and a couple restraunts.
This past Monday I decided to finally try MB for the first time. It was sort of intimidating, an asian gentleman prob. in his mid 20's sat at around 3rd base with a huge stack of black chips and an older asian woman, prob. in her late 40's sat around 1st base. She also had several huge columns of green chips and a bunch of blacks.
I sat down and started with about $ 165.00. I started getting in the groove and was hitting hands between the banker and the player. My other 2 tablemates were betting huge hands - sometimes $ 500.00 or even a G. At one time I finally got my stack up to about $ 1100.00 or so dollars. ( By the way this table was a $ 10 min. table - $ 2500.00 max a hand. ) FYI - the younger asian gentleman cashed out with $ 9,700.00; I dont know when he started or with how much- but he had a ton of chips.
I soon started giving it all back- just missing with hands, I was also betting big hands ( for me anyway ) $ 75.00 here, $ 100.00 here, even $ 200.00 a few times. Anyway, I got all the way down to almost my original $ 165.00. I decided I was going to quit and make one more last bet - I put it all on player and doubled my money, then I left. I wished I wouldn't have been so greedy and cashed out hundreds of dollars worth of chips before. I told one of the pit bosses this was my first time playing MB- he seemed surprised since I had done so well. I had fun but I wished I would have been more disciplined.
Today, I went back to the same casino and played MB again. This time ( on a Sat. aft. ) the casino was packed - even the same MB table I played at before was more crowded. I got a seat and started with $ 200.00- I noticed the min. amount to bet was $ 25.00 - I was hoping I would be able to keep even and slowly try to make a profit. There were a few other people at the table - some people again were making huge bets. One guy made several at the table - the max amount - $ 2,500.00 ; he won some, but lost some. I started to really hit some good streaks and lucky hands - when I finally cashed out - I had a total of $ 953.00 - my profit for playing for about 2 hours was $ 753.00 I was more disciplined today, I was careful with bigger bets - I didnt go crazy, and I was able to leave with a decent chunk of change.
I had a lot of fun playing the game - I was fortunate today, I know every session wont be a positive one; but I'm really starting to enjoy MB over any other table game.
FYI - I was told by a pit boss the shoe I played on is a 8 deck shoe.
Thanks for looking.
