Thread: Ties...sucker bets or are they?

I know ties are traditionally though of as a sucker bet because of the rare occurance...but I know of plenty of times when I was deep in a progression that a bet on tie saved my behind. In a progresion of 10-20-40-80-160-320 a 40 dollar tie bet would be real sweet if it hits. You might look at it as insurance. Is my thinking on this complete ignorance? Thoughts.

Yeah it did happen to me before as well but only on a few occasions when I was losing and some tie bets save my ass.

I think you would be better off improving on your normal betting and stay away from ties and pairs.

I do bet on them on situational basis, when everyone was winning as the ties and pairs just come in clumps.

Once, I saw an arab guy kept betting on ties on almost every hand in the Malaysian casino with high bets and lost. Everyone was sorry for him and I was requested to suggest to him in English to just follow the crowd when they bet on ties.

Another incident, I saw a woman bet tie on the first hand. She also
kept betting on ties without much lucks.The players from China love to bet on ties.

Do check on my thread on 'Ties and Pairs - How to Predict' where, Garnabby, John1234, etc has contributed sensibly. I think John1234's Tie Around Strategy is a great one and I have used it and it is better to Fibo it.

Another occasion I would watch out for tie is when tie is 8 or 9 points, especially on 9 and the next tie would come along at 65% chance within the next few hands. Also, 8 and 9 ties come together may produce clumps of ties. That is when I would incline to bet on ties ........

Over here, I have known two guys who actually bring in their notebooks to records on the scores in card points. Somehow, when they said tie or pair is coming now, I just bet along and I have won some......I do not know how they count it but they are so confident and quite accurate on predicting them...They are addressed as Professor Baccarat here.....

Thanks for the reply johnm. I play with many Vietnamese and Chinese players and maybe my thinking is influenced by their style. I will check the other threads. Thanks.
