Baccarat tables are a necessity for any serious baccarat player. Not just because playing on a baccarat table is more realistic, but because baccarat tables are designed to make playing baccarat easier.
It can be difficult to pick cards up off of hard tables without bending them. You want to avoid bending your cards since this could effectively "mark" the card causing the whole deck to be useless.
In addition, the soft surface of a baccarat table protects your chips from damage. This is especially important for the more delicate clay baccarat chips. The cost of a baccarat table can be a small price to pay to protect a chip set that could have cost over a thousand dollars.
But how do you choose a baccarat table? What tables are available and how much should you expect to spend?
My favorite is the permanent baccarat table, useful for baccarat chemin de fer (railway), baccarat banque (or à deux tableaux), and punto banco (or North American baccarat).
The main reason I prefer a permanent baccarat table is because it's immovable- at least; it's immovable without the help of a few friends. These tables are usually made out of a nice wood like oak, teak, or mahogany. They also use high quality felt and look great! It's also real expensive!
Advantages:
- These baccarat tables are made with high-quality material that looks great.
- They're also more durable than less permanent baccarat tables.
- They generally come with features such as cup holders and sliding draws to store your baccarat chips.
Disadvantages:
- They're difficult to move around the house and impossible to move to another location without serious help.
- They're expensive; often costing several thousand dollars
- You may have to kill a friend if they spill something on it-justifiable homicide.
What's your preferred type of baccarat table? Please give advantages and disadvantages as well!
