In your suspicions you are right! Actually I'm a Chinese living in Hong Kong, I used to play Baccarat in Macau that is very close to Hong Kong.

There are quite a lot of casinos in Macau such as the Wynn, Sands, Starworld as well as many local brand casinos, the MGM Grand and the Venetian will be opening very soon too. Baccarat is the most popular gaming
in Macau, there are more than 400 Bacarrat tables in Sands casino which I don't think you can find that many Baccarrat tables inside a single casino in other place of the world.

I live in California. Are the Bac rules the same as Las Vegas? How often do you go to Macau? I would like to go there next year, but is it safe over there?
